Anchor Brain

Just got word from my buddies up in Providence RI about a great new record label. Anchor Brain, great name considering the whaling and fishing history in this area. Seems like a labor of love between Arab on Radar guys and Six Finger Satellite. Would love to find out who is actually behind this great idea.
Essentially they will NOT release cd's. Everything will be digital downloads and artwork which will be mailed. Here is a description from their mouth,

"Rather than sit back and watch the rapid unraveling of a once exciting and thriving music industry, Anchor Brain has decided to take back the helm and steer things into a new direction…FORWARD!

What is ANCHOR BRAIN? It is a new record label whose goal is to utilize fresh marketing ideas to bring international attention to the many amazing and unique bands originating in Providence, R.I. Plans include replacing obsolete Compact Discs with limited-edition silkscreened posters that come complete with a download code for the record. The label will also release limited-edition silk screened LP’s, subscription-only unreleased tracks and will have worldwide digital distribution.

Through these ideas Anchor Brain hopes to curb the rampant downloading theft of independent music and reaffirm the respect that listeners once had for the blood sweat and tears that went into making records.

The first three bands to be signed by the label are The Chinese Stars, Six Finger Satellite, and Sensitive Hearts. The label will unleash these three records in October of 2009. So beware…"

Sounds great doesn't it! Especially with the amount of Providence bands that I already like I am hoping this will help keep them around and expose others to their creativity.

Right now they are offering up tasty mp3s from the upcoming releases.

Rabbit Face - Chinese Stars
Wilson P - Six Finger Satellite
Scratchy - Sensitive Hearts

Support this label I have a feeling they will release some great stuff.
