This Will Be Fun

On Feb 25 at The Earl there is going to be some old school Atlanta fun going on. Tweezer, Go-Devils and newcomers AkuYou (featuring members of past bands including Pineal Ventana, Centre, and I Almost Saw God on the Metro) are getting together for a night of craziness.
If you were around the music scene here in Atlanta during the 90's then you know what this is all about. Come one come all because this lineup will probably never happen again.

Dustin Wong playing Eyedrum

I got to see the Baltimore band Ponytail play at 529 a while back and it was such a great energetic show. So I was sad to hear that the band was no more. But, guitarist Dustin Wong is still forging ahead doing his own thing and will be playing at Eyedrum here in Atlanta on Nov 24 2010. His Thrill Jockey debut album is titled Infinite Love.

Barn Owl

Barn Owl - Light from the Mesa from Thrill Jockey Records on Vimeo.

Got this in my inbox the other day and found it to be pretty good. Kinda dark, eerie, dragging music. Thrill Jockey is releasing the new album called Ancestral Star on Nov 2.
Here is a sample "Light from the Mesa" Mp3

Here is what Thrill Jockey has to say:
"Barn Owl is the San Francisco duo of Evan Caminiti (guitars, vocals) and Jon Porras (guitars, vocals, drums, harmonium). They sculpt a vast collection of hazy desert sky meditations - ominous, barren expanses of music for desert walks at dusk, and dark, pastoral passages embellished with psychedelic and atmospheric wash. A mixture between devotional ragas and dusty stomp with atmosphere and production that references shoegaze and black metal influences. "Light From The Mesa" is only a peak at this dark epic."
