Got an email today letting me know that OuterLoop now has a myspace page. Responsible for the awesome Christmas compilation tapes put out years ago around Atlanta. (Perimeter Records then Outer Loop, history at Beyond Failure)
James Joyce has a great write up on his blog, Beyond Failure, about the history and a full download of the '87 tape here.

Here is the track listing:
1. Merry Christmas, Dammit by Jon Kincaid, Bryan Lilje, Todd Ploharski, Melinda Spratt, Christopher Swartz and Doug Hughes
2. Chimes by Christopher Swartz
3. I'm Dreaming by Todd Ploharski
4. Arctic Christmas by Doug Hughes

Later releases included Atlanta bands such as St. Nicks Evil Moronic Twin, Pineal Ventana, Sequence 3, Seely, Routerwelm, Liars Club, Peppermint Synapse, Tilde Course, Accustat, James' Magic Dragon, Broken Symmetry, Hughes/Swartz, , Overdoor Head Traction Ensemble, Casper Fandango, Starblood, Happy Billionaires.

Check back for more info in the coming weeks. Beyond Failure is doing writeups on lots of the xmas tapes up until the holiday is over.

Art by Danette Haser

My good friend and musical partner of many years, Danette Haser, is FINALLY having an art show to showcase her amazing talent. Opening night is this Sat, Sept 5 2009 from 10pm to midnight at 7 Stages Theater in Little 5 Points, ATL.

Free so come by and check out the artwork. There will be a DeeJay set by Brian James and live music from our good friend Kathleen Lynch (NYC), oh and beverages also. Come out and support Danette and her art.

Here is a little bio thingy:

"My name is Danette Haser and I have been drawing all my life. I am
basically a self taught artist, having only taken a few art classes in
college but not being able to follow the professor's direction. I quickly
abandoned any thoughts of continuing with art classes, but I never stopped
drawing.
I follow the voices in my head and where my hand leads me. I find my
inspiration in the end of life: road kill, the useless, and unusual. Fear
and obsession. As much as darkness leads me, so do children, animals and
life. My daughter is a new inspiration to me with her curiosity, brightness,
and positivity. Fairy tales and magic. Conflict and contradiction. I
desperately seek balance through my art. In the newer drawings, I'm
starting to use a little color where as in the past the color hurt my hands.

My other creative outlet has always been music. I have been a singer for
the bands Pineal Ventana and Victory Girls, and I am currently singing with
AkuYou and yet to be named project.

Thank you for letting me share my work with you."

Record Store Day 2009

April 18th is the official record Store Day this year.
Just received this in my inbox this evening:

"Hey Music Lovers, has it been a year already? You know how great last year's Sidewalk Sale was, and this time I've had a whole year to put it all together. Those of you who love to shop our dollar bins (and judging from how often I have to fill it up, that's quite a few of you) will get to see all the goodies I've been hoarding that are just too good for the dollar bin. Hundreds of indie, import and out-of-print titles on CD and DVD will be bargain priced just for Record Store Day. We'll be setting up some tables in front of the store and sidewalk-selling from 10AM until dusk, so come on down and check out the incredible selection and best prices in town."
